WARNING TO PUPPY SEARCHERS!
1) Do your research on puppy development. Are the breeders doing breeder education? If they were they would know, letting a puppy go under 8 weeks is the most NO NO NO. With my experience and years of being a vet tech and dog trainer, I've seen what happens to puppies leaving to early. It affects them mentally. Severe separation anxiety, aggression, also shy backward puppies. I used to let my puppies go at 8 weeks, but I changed that. I've seen the diffident changes in their behavior to when people come to meet them. At 8 weeks old, they go through a fright period. I would have people ask why they were sitting in a corner, not wanting to come out. I had to explain to them, they were used to me but not them. They were going through a fright period. So I decided to keep them until they were 10 weeks old. It makes a HUGE diffidence! Puppies are more social able and want to play and give kisses. I have to explain to the puppy parents, that they will go through another fright period, in a few weeks. Be your puppies voice, and I talk to my puppy parents about this, and how to deal with it. Not all breeds are the same, the larger the breed their stage development are different. They progress differently. But with my years of experience with miniature schnauzer, I know its way better to keep the puppies until they are 10 weeks old. I have to be my puppies voice!!
2) Beware of breeders playing the paper game. They sell their puppies for certain price of this set of paper, but will sell them for different price for another set of papers. Yes, a dog can have a dual papers with different kennel club. Most show breeders, sport completion breeders will have dual kennel club papers. A reputable breeder will give you both or just 1 set at no extra cost. More likely if you decide to show, or sport completion, you will get both.
So when searching just beware! I see breeders trying to make easy money selling cheap, letting puppies go way to early, and play paper games. These are lazy irresponsible breeders. They have no education on ESI, ENS, desensitizing, curriculum expose and proper socialization.
So when searching don't go by your heart, go by your brain.
Don't fall for a lazy breeder! A true breeder who want to improve their lines, and breed, Will loose sleep, and be with them almost 24/7. They are part of our family, until they come home to be part of your family.
My advise is run like a wild cat when you see these thing!
